“Liila is a brave, sensitive, original, fascinating and interesting young person who determinedly walks her own artistic path.”

Liila Sival is a multifaceted singer, songwriter, and electronic music producer. With her background in jazz, hip hop, impressionism and alt rock, Sival’s creative flow defies categorization. Whether she’s flying solo or reimagining a jazz standard with her band, Sival’s music possesses a distinctive feel. Life is in technicolor, yet there’s an underlying melancholy and sensuality to it. The music flows freely through a spectrum of emotions, still providing a warm sense of consolation amidst the turmoil.

Born and raised in Finland, Sival holds a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz from Sibelius Academy and undertook studies at USC in Los Angeles. Her musical journey began much earlier, at the age of 10, when she started studying classical piano. It was during this time that she wrote her first song, igniting a profound passion for creation that has continued to deepen over time. From the start, Sival has embraced a do-it-yourself attitude that sets the stage for her distinctive vocal expression.

Liila Sival’s voice is a vibrant tapestry, shifting seamlessly from sultry hums to powerful crescendos and from traditional storytelling to playful backing harmonies. Her lyrics are crafted with care and delivered with intention, serving as the soul of her work. For Sival, singing is a therapeutic experience, while her passion for music production lets her create her own worlds—complete with her favorite twist: wonky beats that make your body sway.

Sival’s upcoming album, But I Won’t Speak Before Bloom, takes listeners on an emotional journey through nature, reflecting on patience in love. This project features a blend of Sival’s original compositions alongside jazz standards that she’s reimagined to fit her narrative, performed by a dynamic Finland-USA supergroup: Mikko Antila (piano, percussion, keys), Okko Saastamoinen (drums), and Nathan Francis (double bass).
The album melds spontaneous improvisation and captivating storytelling with meticulously layered electronic sounds and background vocals, creating a unique sonic landscape. Produced in collaboration with Onni Korhonen, Sival is crafting a record where every lyric—original or drawn from jazz tradition—echoes themes of nature.
But I Won’t Speak Before Bloom is a vivid reverie on love and patience, unfolding a world of rustling leaves, blooming wildflowers, and empathetic trees that hand out a helping branch.
